Page 1 of 2 After almost four years with TechTV and over a year with G4, it’s now my turn to fall victim to corporate mergers. I dodged six layoffs since 2000 and seven was too much to ask. I imagine that getting laid off isn’t a pleasant experience for most, but this is exactly what I needed. As a journalist, visibility is extremely important and since the merger I’d fallen from public view in both the online and television world. Besides the 'Tech Toss Up' segments on Filter, I haven't been mentally challenged in quite some time as the network shifted away from technology.
Now, it’s time to start a new chapter. I fully intend to continue in technology journalism, hopefully in television or online video. I’ll continue to write product reviews whenever the opportunity arises. Where is all this journalism going to happen? We’ll see where destiny takes me. December 30th is officially my last day with G4, but I want to take this opportunity to thank my peeps for the last five years...consider it an acceptance speech of sorts: Thanks to those that watched and read my reviews over the years at both TechTV and G4. I hope you enjoyed them whether you agreed or not…in some ways, I prefer if you don’t agree…life wouldn’t be as interesting if everybody thought the same. To all the ex-LabRats, products peeps, producers, hosts, crews, editors, and Web folks…thanks for the memories, support, and opportunities. Special thanks to my family for keeping me sane through rough times…Michaela Pereira for her support and making Los Angeles feel like home…Caroline Diaz and Lawson Wong for listening to me complain…Andrew Hawn for giving me my first soapbox to shout from at TechTV…and Kevin Lau for my last soapbox at G4…it felt great being on television again.
